The 21-man traveling roster for Man United’s UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night has been announced.
Following the announcement of the club’s 21-man traveling squad for the match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, some Manchester United fans have allayed their anxieties.
Raphael Varane and Mason Mount participated in an open training session at Carrington on Tuesday morning, but they were not part of the team that left for Germany. They have missed the last two and three games, respectively, due to recent injuries.
However, their public appearances in front of the cameras during training gave rise to hope that they would both be a part of the matchday squad in some way. Both of them have not, however, made the cut, indicating that they are not yet ready to return to duty.
Harry Maguire’s injury has also forced him to withdraw from the trip to Germany, adding to United’s problems. There are only five defenders in the 21-man roster: Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, and Sergio Reguilon.
The traveling group does not include midfielders Sofyan Amrabat and Kobbie Mainoo, who were both saw on Tuesday receiving individualized training at Carrington. Dan Gore and Hannibal Mejbri, two young players, have been added to the midfield pool.
United’s injury list is extensive, therefore manager Erik ten Hag has included four goalkeepers in his 21-man roster, including Radek Vitek, a youngster. Therefore, a lot of fans have raised their concerns ahead of the highly anticipated Champions League match because the Reds only selected one goalie and eight defenders for the match against the Bundesliga giants.
Bayern are the heavy favorites to win all three points as a result of United’s injury woes, and some Reds supporters are concerned that Ten Hag’s team might take another beating on the road.
