Pundit names untapped Manchester United midfielder who deserves a shot as “fantastic”

Because of the injury situation at Manchester United, Micah Richards believes that this midfielder should be given a chance to show himself.

After an outstanding international break with Scotland, Micah Richards thinks Scott McTominay deserves a shot at Manchester United.

Since Erik ten Hag took over, McTominay has fallen out of favor at United, where Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Bruno Fernandes are now favored choices in the center. The 26-year-old has excelled for his country’s team, though.

McTominay has six goals for his nation throughout the European Qualifiers, all coming from midfield. The Scots continued their perfect start in Group A with a goal and an assist in their most recent qualifying match against Cyprus on Friday night.

Richards thinks West Ham United might be interested in signing McTominay at some point, but he also thinks the midfielder ought to get some playing time at Old Trafford.”I just think he’s a really intelligent, hard-working midfielder who can do a job whatever you tell him,” he said on the podcast The Rest is Football.

It’s simply the pandemonium at Manchester United, and because of the superstars they’ve had in the past, they’re constantly comparing him to people like ‘Oh, when we had [Roy] Keane or [Paul] Scholes,’ it’s always going to be challenging. However, there is one player there who I think is excellent.

Gary Lineker, another former professional, agreed with Richards and added, “I notice Scott McTominay playing and going in the box a lot. He scored a second time against Cyprus after scoring twice the previous time around.

“He leads the qualification scoring. It’s absurd that he isn’t getting much of a look at Manchester United. Surely, someone will pursue him.
