The highly regarded Brighton and Republic of Ireland striker has been under Manchester United’s radar.
Evan Ferguson should only be pursued by Manchester United if he fits the Erik ten Hag system, not because Manchester City or other Premier League teams could be interested in him.
After bringing in seven players this summer, United already has one eye on the upcoming season and plans to make at least four significant acquisitions. The 18-year-old frontman Ferguson has received a lot of attention as a potential hire, and according to the Manchester Evening News, important players in the background are keeping an eye on him.
When Brighton visits Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon (3pm), Ferguson, who has six international caps to his record, is prepared and eager to face United. Prior to the September international break, he scored his first Premier League hat-trick for the Seagulls in a victory over Newcastle United.
Since making their first squad, he has often received praise for his efforts on the south coast. Louis Saha, a former United striker, disagrees, saying that does not necessarily make him a good target.
During a Betfred interview, Saha was pressed about the Brighton man. Evan Ferguson is a very talented player, but all the top clubs require a number of elite strikers to compete for the top prizes, according to him.
“As for Manchester United attempting to sabotage a transfer for Ferguson if Manchester City pursues him, I wouldn’t agree with this strategy since they ought to only pursue players who genuinely want to join Old Trafford. The approach for United should be to concentrate on players they think will fit into their system rather than [target] those being courted by rivals.
They require participants who are totally dedicated to their own objective. Hopefully United can achieve success with this strategy.
Before joining Brighton in the UK in January 2021, Ferguson made his professional debut with St. Kevin’s Boys and Bohemians. Since then, in 33 games across all competitions, the kid has scored 14 goals and contributed four assists for the team.
