Paul Scholes believes that Ten Hag made the right choice in appointing Bruno as captain by saying, “I never saw Marcus as captain.”

Paul Scholes stated earlier this week on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast: “I know when Harry Maguire lost his captaincy, people were talking about Marcus Rashford being [the next skipper]— but I never saw that.

“I don’t know him in the locker room, but he doesn’t strike me as someone who should be a captain. Bruno Fernandes, though, has succeeded. For the first time, I believe, the squad has a number of leaders.

“You consider the experience they have and the manager they have hired. Real Madrid’s World Cup-winning Raphael Varane. Casemiro. That team has three or four players that are capable of serving as captain.

Bruno is most likely the best option because he appears to be the role model for everyone. He has done an excellent job as captain, and he exudes leadership qualities. He is the one who is constantly trying to motivate his team.

Despite some doubts about the Portuguese man’s temperament as a captain, Bruno was the obvious pick for the armband.

However, Erik ten Hag ultimately decided to designate him captain after he led Manchester United all of last season without Maguire.
