Together as Brazil teammates, Casemiro of Manchester United witnessed his countryman achieve history.
Casemiro, a midfielder for Manchester United, complimented Neymar on breaking Pele’s record for most goals scored for Brazil on Saturday.
Several United players are currently on international service, including Casemiro representing Brazil in important 2026 World Cup qualifiers. When his team crushed Bolivia 5-1, the 31-year-old started in the center of midfield.
Rodrygo, a Real Madrid player, scored a brace each side of Raphinha’s goal, but Neymar made headlines by scoring goals four and five to make history. The 31-year-old replaced Pele as the top male goal scorer in the nation by scoring twice.
He and the football great were deadlocked going into the game, and when he missed a first-half penalty, it appeared that his luck had run out. However, his two goals allowed him to formally take the record.

Brazil leads the South American standings after the first round of qualification games on goal differential, with victories also coming from Uruguay, Argentina, and Colombia. On Wednesday, Casemiro and his colleagues face Peru in their second qualifying match.
Both Casemiro and Neymar, who are both 31 years old, have been teammates with the Brazilian national team for a while. At the club level, the two have competed against each other for Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Neymar recently signed a lucrative contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, and Casemiro is working to assist United improve upon their third-place Premier League result from the previous year.
