The midfielder made a one-year loan move from Fiorentina to the Premier League powerhouses.
According to Sofyan Amrabat’s agent, he turned down “every club that came calling” in order to complete his dream transfer to Old Trafford on deadline day.
A few hours before the Premier League deadline, United agreed to loan the Moroccan international from Fiorentina for the entire season. After paying an initial €10 million fee for his services, the club has the option—but not the obligation—to make the transfer permanent the following summer.
This year, Amrabat will wear the No. 4 jersey, and on Saturday, September 16, against Brighton, when United resumes domestic play, he might make his United debut. He was ineligible to play for Arsenal because his move was not completed before the registration deadline
Amrabat was rumored to be on the move this summer, with Barcelona among the main clubs connected. The 27-year-old joined United despite formal bids from rival teams to sign the Fiorentina midfielder.
Mahmoud El Boustati, Amrabat’s agent, wrote: “You had a dream that you were performing in front of the lights at the Theatre of Dreams. You trusted me to help you realize your ambition, and over the course of 15 years, we’ve been on this trip together, watching you develop from a small child with natural talent and a love for football to the man you are now, a world-class athlete.
“After your performances at the World Cup, the biggest stage of them all, the entire world was mentioning your name,” he said. Everyone could see your talent, which I already knew.
“My faith in you has never wavered, and even though these past three months have been challenging and full of challenges, you have refused every club that has approached you because you are confident that your goal will come true. single club! We succeeded, brother, keeping our word and realizing our objective. Dream Theatre is waiting for you.
