Erik ten Hag decided to keep the Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri at Manchester United during this transfer window.
In recent conversations with Pellistri, Ten Hag expressed his preference for the 21-year-old to stay developing at United rather than going on loan to another club.
More than a dozen clubs expressed interest in Pellistri, with Sheffield United and FC Twente at the top of the list, but Ten Hag regards him as a valuable member of his team.
Ten Hag has so far used Pellistri in two Premier League contests, for a total of 13 minutes against Wolves and five minutes against Tottenham. As the schedule fills up, it is anticipated that Ten Hag will use Pellistri more frequently.
Pellistri joined United in a £9 million deal from Penarol in 2020. His contract has two years left on it, with an additional year’s option. Improved and extended terms have been the subject of preliminary discussions.
